The Midland Athletic Syndicate is constructing a state-of-the-art sports facility at a cost of approximately $35 million to benefit local athletes. The project has been fully funded by local foundations and West Texas companies, with no use of tax funds for the 115,000-square-foot complex. Engineering firm Jacob Martin has been chosen to design and build the facility, following their successful work on the Dodge Jones Sports Complex in Abilene.
Featuring two full-sized soccer fields, 12 indoor volleyball courts, and six full-court basketball courts, this modern sports center will cater to various athletic needs. It is being financed through a non-profit organization that accepts tax-deductible contributions and also plans to establish an endowment for future employee compensation and maintenance costs without relying on local taxes.
Strategically located next to the existing Scharbauer Sports Complex on Loop 250, this new development promises top-notch amenities for athletes while supporting community growth through private donations alone.
