Amazon has opened its largest storage and distribution center in the United States, located just off the Loop 202 in Mesa. The 1.2 million-square-foot facility will be used to store third-party seller products on Amazon’s online retail platform, which accounts for 60% of total sales. According to Rodney Huffman from Amazon, “We’ve got about 13 million square feet of storage racking – very narrow aisles walled up to the ceiling.”
The new center is expected to employ 800 people with an increase up to 1,300 during peak seasons. Additionally, Arizona boasts 17 fulfillment and sortation centers along with 13 delivery stations that are staffed by over 33 thousand full and part time employees across all locations within the state.
