Sam’s Club, owned by Walmart, recently acquired 29 acres of land in Mesa for $13 million. The purchase will be used to construct a 166,000-square-foot building and a gas station with 14 pumps. This membership-only warehouse chain offers bulk grocery items, electronics and home goods.
According to an AZBEX report, the new building will cover approximately 21 acres on Recker Road and Loop 202. The remaining eight acres will be designated for other purposes such as retail stores, restaurants or entertainment venues. This location marks the first Sam’s Club in Mesa and the tenth in Arizona.
The site is part of Longbow’s master plan which covers over 313 acres of land. Other developments currently underway include a brewery called “12 West Brewery,” multiple retail stores and multifamily housing units.
In addition to this expansion project in Mesa, Walmart announced that all its new stores starting from year-end of2023 would feature floral departments along with seafood/sushi departments equipped with walk-in coolers.
