Mesa Bar, a new Southwestern-inspired cocktail and wine concept, has committed to a location at 220 Front St. in the South Street Seaport Historic District. The Durst Organization announced that the hospitality concept has signed a lease at the property and is expected to open later this year. The bar will be part of a broader mix of dining, retail, and hospitality offerings that has been developing along Front Street in this historic block of Lower Manhattan.
The concept for Mesa Bar is rooted in founder and Upper West Side native Levent Cakir’s long-standing interest in the American West. The venue is expected to feature a creative cocktail program alongside a curated wine list and cold beer, supported by a concise menu of bar snacks. The design and overall ambiance are planned to reflect Cakir’s fascination with Southwestern culture and landscapes, serving as the backdrop for the beverage-focused program.
In describing the lease, Jody Durst, President of The Durst Organization, said Mesa Bar will introduce a fresh option to Front Street while complementing the area’s existing tenants. He noted that the new bar will contribute to the diverse mix of dining, retail, and hospitality experiences that help define this section of Lower Manhattan as a distinctive destination within the South Street Seaport Historic District.
Leasing at 220 Front St. involved multiple representatives. The Durst Organization was represented in-house by Karen Rose. In addition, Zach Nathan, Brandon Berger, and Hunter Lazan of KSR also represented The Durst Organization in the transaction. On the tenant side, Mesa Bar was represented by KSR brokers Aynsley Thaler and David Green. The announcement did not disclose lease terms, square footage, or financial details of the agreement.
With Mesa Bar preparing to open this year, the lease adds another hospitality-focused occupant to Front Street and contributes to the ongoing activation of the South Street Seaport Historic District. The combination of a specialized cocktail and wine program, a tailored menu of bar snacks, and a Southwestern-inspired setting is expected to distinguish Mesa Bar within the neighborhood’s growing lineup of food and beverage operators.
