Progress on McKinney’s Downtown Redevelopment Hits Pause
Plans for a major redevelopment in downtown McKinney have been halted after M2G Ventures withdrew from the project. Originally selected by city council members in early 2024, M2G Ventures was set to lead the transformation of five blocks in the city’s downtown area.
The proposed redevelopment was ambitious, featuring a mix of commercial and residential components. Plans included a mixed-use block with restaurants and offices up to five stories tall, a six-story hotel with event and commercial spaces, a five-story multifamily building with a built-in parking garage, and a collection of 12 townhomes.
M2G Ventures, a Certified Women-Owned Business based in Fort Worth, Texas, has developed more than 4.5 million square feet of property, ranging from adaptive reuse and mid-century warehouse conversions to large-scale industrial developments and historic building redevelopments.
The McKinney City Council is expected to revisit the project’s future in an upcoming meeting.
