**Kroger to Close Midtown McKinney Location, Plans New Store in West McKinney**
Kroger has announced the closure of its grocery store located at Lake Forest Drive and Eldorado Parkway in midtown McKinney. The store is expected to shut its doors in March, marking the second closure in the area within a year, following the shutdown of another Kroger in East McKinney.
According to reports, the closure is part of a broader company-wide strategy aimed at improving operational efficiency and enhancing Kroger’s long-term financial health. Employees impacted by the closure will have opportunities to transfer to other Kroger locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, including stores in both McKinney and Frisco.
Despite the closure, Kroger has plans to maintain its presence in the community. The company is set to break ground on a new store later this month in west McKinney. The upcoming Kroger Marketplace location will span 99,000 square feet and will anchor the new Custer Frontier Marketplace, a commercial development located at the southeast corner of North Custer Road and Laud Howell Parkway.
The new store is expected to enhance Kroger’s service capacity in the growing McKinney market while aligning with its broader redevelopment and modernization goals.
