**McKinney Weighs Incentives for JW Marriott Resort Proposal**
The City of McKinney is reviewing a proposal to offer economic development incentives for a new full-service hotel. If approved, the plan would support the development of a 290-room JW Marriott hotel, complete with more than 50,000 square feet of conference space.
The proposed resort, to be named JW Marriott Resort McKinney Craig Ranch, would be located on an 8-acre site at the northeast corner of Collin McKinney Parkway and Van Tuyl Parkway.
Planned amenities include a resort-style pool with a lazy river, a fitness center, a full-service restaurant and a specialty dining option, a lounge with terrace and pool seating, pickleball courts, and both valet and self-parking options. The development would also feature a structured parking facility, a retail gift/sundries shop, and at least 45 for-sale condominiums with access to a separate amenity deck.
To support the project, the City is considering a package of incentives that includes reimbursements of sales taxes, property taxes, and hotel occupancy taxes. These incentives are estimated to total between $13 million and $18 million.
According to the proposed agreement, construction on the resort must begin by December 31, 2026, and be completed by April 30, 2029.
