"McKinney Approves Construction of $220M Amphitheater"

The McKinney City Council has given the green light for construction to begin on the Sunset Amphitheater, with an expected opening date in 2026. The project is being developed by Venu and will be located on a 46-acre site northeast of US 75 and SH 121, next to the Sheraton McKinney Hotel.

Some key features of this $220 million open-air venue include fully-covered seating areas, over 250 luxury fire pit suites, a landscaped grass area, traditional reserved seating options as well as Owner’s Club suites. Guests can also enjoy gourmet food and drinks at this state-of-the-art entertainment destination which boasts over 5,000 parking spaces.

With an estimated capacity of up to 20,000 people per event and plans for approximately between50-65 shows annually featuring concerts and comedians alike; it’s no wonder that city leaders approved an initial development agreement in April which includes incentives totaling more than $50 million. Stay tuned for updates on this exciting new addition to McKinney!
