McCombs Enterprises Plans Pearl-Area Project

McCombs Enterprises is making strides towards its vision for the Pearl-area mixed-use development. The company acquired a significant portion of CPS Energy property earlier this year and intends to construct apartments, offices, and a hotel along the River Walk. According to reports from the San Antonio Business Journal, McCombs has partnered with Denver-based McWhinney on this project called “Jones Avenue at Museum Reach”. The estimated cost for this venture is $300 million.

The joint effort will seek support from local and state policymakers in securing $35 million in public funds to ensure success of the project.

Renderings reveal plans for 325 apartment units spread across a 13-story building and six-story building, as well as 70,000 square feet of office space in a four-story structure. Additionally, there will be 146 hotel rooms and two parking garages providing over 900 spaces. Red McCombs lends his name to McCombs Enterprises; he is known as an esteemed sports team owner, media executive,and car dealership proprietor.
