**Mayor Brandon Johnson Launches ‘Build Better Together’ Economic Growth Initiative in Chicago**

Mayor Brandon Johnson has officially unveiled *Build Better Together*, a comprehensive strategy aimed at fostering inclusive and sustainable economic growth across Chicago.

The initiative was announced during the groundbreaking ceremony for a new development featuring 117 mixed-income housing units at 79 W. Monroe Street. This strategic plan focuses on key areas including affordable housing, job creation, and neighborhood investment.

*Build Better Together* brings together various city departments and agencies—such as Planning, Housing, Cultural Affairs, and Business Affairs—to create a more streamlined and collaborative approach to development. The goal is to simplify bureaucratic processes, foster stronger partnerships, and provide better support for the city’s residents and businesses.

Programs like “Cut the Tape” are already in motion, accelerating development approvals and removing long-standing barriers to growth. The city is backing this strategic vision with $1.25 billion in Housing and Economic Development (HED) bonds. These funds will be used to invest in infrastructure improvements, affordable housing projects, small business development, and cultural enrichment initiatives.

“Build Better Together will allow us to maximize all our city’s unique and varied assets, attract more businesses and residents, and strengthen our investments in housing, culture, and business support,” said Mayor Johnson. “This will make our city more compelling, attractive, and welcoming to all who experience it.”

The launch of *Build Better Together* marks a significant step forward in realizing a more equitable and vibrant future for Chicago.
