Mayor Adams and DCP Launch Zoning Initiative to Boost Small Businesses

New York City Mayor Eric Adams and the Department of City Planning (DCP) have unveiled a zoning initiative to support small businesses, titled “City of Yes for Economic Opportunity.” This plan includes 18 policy changes aimed at promoting economic recovery and creating an inclusive, vibrant economic recovery for the city.

The proposed changes include allowing clean manufacturers and microbreweries to expand their space, permitting new corner stores in residential areas, eliminating outdated regulations that ban dancing in restaurants and venues, revitalizing commercial corridors, filling vacant storefronts investing in key growth industries as well as modernizing use regulations.  
These measures are part of Mayor Adams’ broader “City of Yes” plan which focuses on carbon neutrality ,economic opportunity ,and housing opportunity . The zoning text amendment will go through public review processes before requiring approval from the New York City Council .

Mayor Adams’ “City Of Yes For Economic Opportunity” Plan is set to create a more inclusive environment with increased opportunities for small businesses throughout New York City.
