Crosland Southeast has submitted a request for rezoning in Matthews, with plans to develop a mixed-use project on 92.9 acres of land located at 1700 E. John St. The proposed development includes 564 apartments, a hotel with 120 rooms, 103 single-family homes, townhomes and retail/office space spanning over an area of approximately54,000 square feet.
According to the Charlotte Business Journal , the Matthews Board of Commissioners has postponed their decision until early next year.
The targeted site is situated near Exit 52 on Interstate-485 and is in close proximity to Central Piedmont Community College’s Levine Campus as well as Mecklenburg County Sportsplex at Matthews. The land is currently owned by Aspen Asset Group and the Yandle family.
Crosland Southeast serves as the master developer for Eastland Yards – formerly known as Eastland Mall – located in Charlotte.
