The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) board has appointed Richard Davey as its new CEO, pending his acceptance of the role. He will succeed Lisa Wieland, who previously held the position.
Davey brings nearly two decades of experience to Massport, having started his career as general manager of the MBTA in 2010. Most recently, he served as president of New York City’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority where he successfully managed challenges such as implementing a controversial congestion-pricing plan and addressing rising subway crime.
Throughout its history, Massport has actively engaged in public-private partnerships and played a key role in developing affordable housing projects like those seen in Boston’s Seaport district. The authority is also committed to promoting diversity within the industry through initiatives like their “Massport Model.”
