A new development, known as Honey Creek, is set to take shape in north McKinney. Spanning over 1,650 acres of land, this project is being spearheaded by Republic Property Group based in Dallas. The group has other ongoing projects in Celina, Fort Worth and Frisco with another one planned for McKinney.
The proposed zoning request covers an area of more than 2.5 square miles west of US 75 and north of US 380 near Erwin Park. This would create a designated district with specific development standards.
Once approved, the district could potentially accommodate up to 10,500 homes comprising both single-family and multifamily units. Additionally, there will be at least 80 acres reserved for commercial use.
In accordance with state legislation requirements for such developments,a special district must be established to regulate the project’s progress.
Construction on the first neighborhood within the designated area is expected to commence towards late-2025 or early-2026 with lots ready for delivery within a period of18-24 months after that time frame.
