**Miami’s Mandarin Oriental Hotel to Close, Make Way for $1B Two-Tower Development**
The iconic Mandarin Oriental hotel in Miami is set to close later this month as it prepares for a major transformation. The hotel, located on Brickell Key, will be demolished and replaced with a new $1 billion development featuring a combination of luxury condominiums and a new hotel. The project, developed by Swire Properties, will result in the layoff of approximately 430 employees.
The redevelopment will consist of two towers. The first, soaring about 800 feet, will offer 228 luxury residences under the Mandarin Oriental brand. The second, standing roughly 400 feet, will house the new North American flagship Mandarin Oriental Hotel, as well as additional private residences available for purchase. The new hotel will feature 120 rooms.
Designed to seamlessly integrate with the surrounding landscape, the project will include lush greenery connecting it to the Brickell Key baywalk and offer sweeping views of Biscayne Bay. A podium connecting the two towers will encompass over 100,000 square feet of amenities. These will include multiple multi-tiered, landscaped infinity swimming pools, private cabanas, executive work lounges, private dining spaces with chef kitchens, restaurants, and comprehensive health and wellness facilities.
The redevelopment marks a bold new chapter for the Mandarin Oriental’s presence in Miami, blending high-end residential living with world-class hospitality in one of the city’s most coveted locations.
