The Writers Guild of America (WGA) has reached a tentative agreement with major entertainment companies, bringing an end to the WGA strike that has been ongoing since May. This development is expected to have a positive impact on California’s economy.
According to the guild, this deal is exceptional and includes significant gains and protections for writers across all sectors. However, writers must wait for the finalization of the agreement before returning to work as picketing has been suspended.
Meanwhile, another strike by the Screen Actors Guild continues with picketing starting in July. The strikes are estimated to cost at least $5 billion in economic losses for California and other production hubs such as New Mexico, Georgia, and New York according to experts from Milken Institute.
This latest update marks a significant milestone as WGA works towards resolving its dispute with major studios without any mention of Connect or Connect LA/Texas.
