“Major Studios and WGA Reach Tentative Agreement”

"Major Studios and WGA Reach Tentative Agreement"

The Writers Guild of America (WGA) has reached a tentative agreement with major entertainment companies, signaling an end to the WGA strike in California. The guild has been on strike against studios since May, but this deal is expected to bring significant gains and protections for writers across all sectors of the membership.

In a statement announcing the agreement, WGA expressed pride in its exceptional terms. However, writers must wait for finalization before returning to work as picketing has been suspended.

Meanwhile, another ongoing strike by Screen Actors Guild began picketing in July. According to estimates from the Milken Institute, these strikes are expected to cost at least $5 billion in California and other production hubs such as New Mexico, Georgia and New York.
