Chicago-based nonprofit HIRE360 has received a generous $3 million donation from philanthropist MacKenzie Scott. The organization will utilize the funds to construct a state-of-the-art Training and Business Development Center.
The first phase of the project involves revamping 40,000 square feet of the facility, which will include modern conference and meeting rooms, specialized construction training areas, a solar training center, and administrative offices. Additionally, the center will boast two fully-equipped commercial kitchens for hands-on learning opportunities as well as retail and event spaces.
In its second phase of development, an additional 14,000 square feet of space will be renovated to accommodate more training facilities and a parking lot. In another noteworthy act of generosity in 2023 , Scott also made an unprecedented $8 million contribution to Cara Collective , another Chicago-based nonprofit dedicated to empowering individuals through workforce development initiatives aimed at alleviating poverty.
