Low Income Housing Institute Reopens Rosie’s Village Shelter in North Seattle

The Low Income Housing Institute (LIHI) recently celebrated the grand reopening of Rosie’s Village, a tiny home community located at 12201 Aurora Avenue North in North Seattle.

Previously situated in the University District on property owned by Sound Transit, Rosie’s Village was relocated to make way for new affordable housing developments. The newly reestablished site now features 37 tiny houses and is strategically positioned near the RapidRide E Line, Bitter Lake Community Center, and the University of Washington Medical Center, offering improved access to transportation and essential services.

Rosie’s Village serves between 40 to 50 individuals through its 24/7 enhanced shelter program, offering comprehensive support services aimed at helping residents transition to permanent housing. LIHI operates the village with the support of Truevine of Holiness Missionary Baptist Church as a faith sponsor.

The construction of the village was made possible through contributions from several organizations and partners, including Sound Foundations NW, LOVE-TO, 21 Million, and Portable Storage Northwest. The site provides a range of communal amenities such as a fully equipped kitchen, restrooms, laundry facilities, offices, and an outdoor picnic area, all designed to foster a supportive and dignified living environment.

Rosie’s Village reflects LIHI’s continued commitment to tackling homelessness and providing sustainable housing solutions in the Seattle area.
