Las Vegas to Welcome Oakland A’s in New $1.5B Stadium

After 50 years in Alameda County, CA, the Oakland Athletics have decided to move and build a new ballpark near the Las Vegas Strip. The A’s signed a binding purchase agreement for 49 acres of land owned by Red Rock Resorts, parent company of Station Casinos. The $1.5 billion stadium will feature 30,000 seats with a partially retractable roof and ancillary development including food and beverage establishments as well as an amphitheater.

The team plans to work with Nevada and Clark County on a public-private partnership to fund the project which is expected to break ground next year with completion slated for 2027. Upon moving into their new home they will join two other major sports teams: NFL’s Raiders who also left Oakland behind; NHL’s Golden Knights who are based in Las Vegas since 2017 season start .
