Lagunitas Brewing Co. Closing Chicago Brewery and Taproom

Lagunitas Brewing Co. Closing Chicago Brewery and Taproom

Lagunitas Brewing Co. has announced plans to relocate its brewery operations from Chicago to California, citing the need to “future proof” the organization in response to evolving trends in the craft beverage industry. The company will be closing its Chicago taproom permanently, but will maintain operation of its warehouse in the city.

According to a statement from Lagunitas spokesperson Sam Kennedy, this transition will impact 86 local employees who may either move with the company or transition into remote roles. The closure is being handled with careful consideration and respect for these valued employees.

Founded in Petaluma, California over 25 years ago, Lagunitas opened their Chicago facility in 2014. Despite this change, they remain committed to serving their beers at partner establishments throughout the Chicagoland area.

The decision reflects Lagunitas’ dedication towards staying ahead of industry shifts and maintaining a strong presence within key markets like California while continuing partnerships with local businesses across multiple regions.
