LA Metro Regional Connector Unites 4 Transit Lines

The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LACMTA) recently opened its $1.8-billion Regional Connector transit project, adding three new stations and connecting four transit lines. Spanning 1.9 miles of track between Union Station and the 7th Street/Metro Center Station in Downtown Los Angeles, this nearly decade-long endeavor provides light rail trains with a seamless single-seat connection from Downtown Long Beach to Union Station, Pasadena and beyond for the first time since the Blue Line opened over 30 years ago.

Skanska led construction on this project alongside Traylor Bros., Inc., who excavated one of L.A.’s largest caverns while performing all mining and maintenance duties related to it according to The Los Angeles Business Journal . In April 2014, a design-build contract was approved by both parties involved: Skanska & Traylor Bros., as well as LACMTA itself..

With its completion comes an increased level of convenience for commuters throughout LA county – providing them with an efficient way to travel across multiple destinations within minutes!
