Kaiser Permanente Acquires Pennsylvania Healthcare Provider in Expansion Strategy

Kaiser Permanente is expanding its reach with the acquisition of Danville, PA-based Geisinger Health, a network of 10 hospitals. This move marks the launch of their new value-based healthcare initiative: Risant Health. The acquisition is expected to close in early 2024 and will kickstart Kaiser’s expansion push from Oakland.

In a statement released by Kaiser, they said that “Risant Health will grow its impact by acquiring and connecting like-minded nonprofit health systems anchored in their respective communities” who are committed to providing value for patients, providers and health plans alike. These acquired health systems will maintain autonomy while gaining access to resources through Risant’s platform which has been built upon 80 years’ experience in value based care at Kaiser Permanente.
