**Johnson & Johnson Begins Construction on $2 Billion Manufacturing Facility in North Carolina**
Johnson & Johnson has officially begun construction on a 500,000-square-foot biologics manufacturing facility in Wilson, North Carolina, located about 50 miles from Raleigh. The $2 billion project aims to expand the company’s capacity to provide medicines for individuals with cancer, immune-mediated, and neurological diseases. This initiative is part of Johnson & Johnson’s broader commitment to increasing its U.S. research and development, technology, and manufacturing investments to more than $55 billion over the next four years.
The investment is expected to generate more than 5,000 high-wage manufacturing and construction jobs in North Carolina. Once fully operational, the facility will directly employ over 500 specialized professionals, including process technicians, laboratory analysts, engineers, and microbiologists.
Additionally, Johnson & Johnson estimates that the project could create approximately 5,000 construction jobs during the site’s development. The company also projects an estimated economic impact of $3 billion statewide during the first 10 years of the facility’s operation.
