Jelly Belly to Shut Down North Chicago Plant

The Jelly Belly plant located in North Chicago is scheduled to cease operations in October, as its parent company Ferrara Candy has decided to relocate production to a different facility. This move will affect 66 employees, who may have the opportunity to transfer to other facilities within the Chicago area according to reports from the Chicago Sun-Times. In 2023, Ferrara Candy acquired Jelly Belly and has since made this difficult decision.

In a statement provided by the candymaker, they explained that after careful evaluation of current production levels at their North Chicago plant, they have chosen to move manufacturing operations elsewhere. The company’s headquarters are based in Fairfield California where their other plant is located.
