JCB Explores South Africa Site for $265 Million Plant

JCB, a leading manufacturer of construction and agricultural equipment, is currently evaluating a potential location for their new $265 million plant. The proposed 400-acre site is strategically located between the Toyota manufacturing plant and Texas A&M University-San Antonio’s campus.

The company plans to construct a state-of-the-art facility spanning over 720,000 square feet on the designated land. As an England-based corporation (photo), JCB aims to expand its global presence with this project.

According to reports from the San Antonio Business Journal, an application has been submitted to rezone two parcels along Highway 16 in order to accommodate heavy industrial activities related to manufacturing construction and agricultural equipment.

Experts predict that JCB’s investment in San Antonio could have a significant economic impact of up to $30 billion. The company also plans on creating over 1,500 job opportunities within the first five years of operation at this new facility.

Notably situated near Navistar’s truck manufacturing facilities in San Antonio, this potential site offers strategic advantages for JCB’s operations. Stay updated with Connect CRE for more updates on JCB’s exploration of their latest venture in SA.
