JBG Smith to Convert Vacant Arlington Office Buildings to Hotel and Apartments
JBG Smith has received formal approval from Arlington County to transform more than 550,000 square feet of vacant office space in two National Landing buildings into a mix of residential and hospitality uses. The redevelopment will result in a 195-unit apartment building and a 344-room, dual-branded hotel.
“2100 and 2200 Crystal Drive are a testament to the success of Arlington County’s Adaptive Reuse Policy, which will breathe new life into these buildings and bring new hotel rooms, residents, and amenities to National Landing,” said Matt Ginivan, Co-Head of Development at JBG Smith.
As part of the plan, JBG Smith will convert 2200 Crystal Drive into a multifamily residential building with 195 units. The design phase is nearing completion, with construction expected to begin by the end of 2025. Additionally, the company is under contract to sell the neighboring 2100 Crystal Drive to a third-party developer. That developer will convert the property into a 344-room, dual-branded hotel combining both lifestyle and extended-stay accommodations.
These changes align with ongoing efforts to revitalize the National Landing area through adaptive reuse and mixed-use development.
