Ventas Inc., a Chicago-based company, has acquired the four-story assisted living facility Camellia at Deerwood for $27.4 million from fellow Chicago-based company, Chicago Pacific Founders. This purchase adds to Ventas’ existing portfolio of over 800 senior housing communities and brings their total number of properties in Jacksonville to five.
As a buyer focused on supporting the aging population, Ventas invests in various assets such as senior housing, outpatient medical facilities and research centers, triple-net healthcare properties, and institutional private capital management.
In Jacksonville specifically, Ventas owns five senior housing assets: Brookdale Avondale located at 4455 Merrimac Ave., Brookdale Crown Point located at 10050 Old Saint Augustine Road,Sunrise of Jacksonville located at 4870 Belfort Road,Sodalis Jacksonville located at7620 Timberlin Park Road,and Discovery Commons San Pablolocatedat14199 William Davis Parkway.
According to Commercial Edge reports,CamelliaatDeerwoodwaslastsoldin2017foralmost$40millionandhasbeenvaluedat$25.95millionforthisyear’sassessment.This recent acquisition by Ventas further expands their presence in the growing market for senior living options in Jacksonville.
