"Jacksonville to Receive New $50M Medical School"

Jacksonville University and Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) have announced a partnership to construct a state-of-the-art medical school. According to the Jacksonville Business Journal, the new facility will be located at 3412 N. University Blvd and will be known as LECOM Jacksonville at Dolphin Reef. The building, which will span 50,000 square feet, will feature classrooms and serve as a hub for medical education.

The school is expected to open in 2026 with an initial capacity of 75 students. However, it has plans for future expansion that would allow it to accommodate up to 150 students in total.

As the largest osteopathic academic health system in the country, LECOM brings extensive expertise and resources to this project.

The new medical school will be situated next door to JU’s Health Sciences Complex, creating what is being called the Jacksonville University Medical Mall – an integrated healthcare plaza located on campus’ north end in Arlington.

This development not only expands JU’s presence downtown but also complements its existing law school program.
