Finegold Alexander Architects, based in Boston, has been chosen as the architectural firm for the renovation and expansion of J.V. Fletcher Library in Westford, MA. This decision was made after a Schematic Feasibility Study with the goal of updating the library which dates back to 1895.
The project’s main focus is on preserving the historic facade while incorporating modern features. The proposed design includes an entrance area, expanded children’s sections and an outdoor storytelling space on the ground floor. The second level will feature larger collections for adults, various meeting spaces and a dedicated section for young adults.
According to Principal-In-Charge Ellen Anselone AIA: “Our approach to design prioritizes maintaining the library’s heritage while improving its functionality and creating an inviting atmosphere. This project showcases our dedication to seamlessly blending history with modernity.” Completion of this renovation and expansion is expected by May 2026.
