### Irving Resort and Casino Plans Moving Forward

A rezoning proposal that could pave the way for a resort and casino in Irving has been approved by the Irving Planning and Zoning Commission. The city council is set to review the matter in a meeting scheduled for March 20.

The rezoning pertains to a largely undeveloped 182-acre plot situated between the Trinity River and State Highway 114, adjacent to the former Texas Stadium site. The Las Vegas Sands Corp. acquired the property in 2023, viewing it as an ideal location for a large-scale development. In addition to the resort and casino, the plans for the site include the potential for a 15,000-seat arena or an indoor theater with a minimum of 4,000 seats.

According to the *Dallas Business Journal*, the rezoning has sparked speculation that the planned development could serve as a future home for the Dallas Mavericks NBA team. Notably, the ownership group of the Mavericks also owns the Las Vegas Sands Corp.
