**Invest Atlanta to Develop 200+ Affordable Housing Units Near Centennial Yards**
Invest Atlanta has announced plans to construct more than 200 affordable apartments near Centennial Yards at the historic site of the former Atlanta Constitution building. The city’s economic development agency has already begun remediation work on the existing 95,000-square-foot structure, which will be repurposed to accommodate new residential units and commercial space.
In 2024, Gorman & Co. was selected as the lead developer for the project, which is expected to attract $107 million in leveraged investments. Gensler is serving as the project’s architect.
The development will be executed in two phases:
– **Phase 1** will transform the upper floors of the existing building into 50 affordable housing units, targeting residents earning between 30% and 80% of the area median income. This phase will also include 5,575 square feet of commercial space.
– **Phase 2** plans to introduce an additional 151-unit affordable housing building on the surrounding property. Upon completion, the development will feature over 200 affordable residential units.
Planned amenities include a clubhouse, fitness center, picnic pavilion, and a business center. Full project completion is anticipated by 2028.
