Increase in Passenger Volume at Ontario Airport Reaches New Monthly High

Ontario International Airport (ONT) welcomed nearly 557,000 passengers in May, the highest number in a single month since the airport returned to local ownership more than six years ago. This 7.3% annual increase was driven by domestic passenger growth of 4%, totaling over 522,000 travelers and international air travel that more than doubled to 34,310 passengers. The previous record high for ONT was reported back in October 2022 with 541,000 travelers flying into or out of the airport. Year-to-date figures show an impressive 13.2% increase compared to 2020 numbers at 2.4 million overall passengers served so far this year alone – a testament of Ontario’s resilience during these unprecedented times due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions worldwide .

Atif Elkadi CEO for Ontario International Airport Authority commented on this remarkable feat: “Ontario continues setting an example as an aviation industry leader not only recovering from but surpassing pre-pandemic levels.”
