Illinois Announces $41 Billion Infrastructure Program

Illinois has recently revealed its largest infrastructure program to date, allocating $41.42 billion towards improving roads, bridges, rail lines, ports and airports in the state.

Governor JB Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity (DCEO) have announced that 32 communities will receive funding for critical repairs to their water, sewer and drainage infrastructure as part of a six-year plan. This follows the successful implementation of the $33.2 billion Rebuild Illinois plan in 2019.

Pritzker stated that every community in Illinois should have access to clean drinking water regardless of their location. With support from federal partners, these communities will now have resources available for upgrading their essential infrastructure systems which will benefit residents’ health and well-being for years to come.
