IBM and Illinois Governor JB Pritzker have joined forces to establish the National Quantum Algorithm Center at the Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park (IQMP) in Chicago.
The center, which will be supported by IBM as well as other quantum computing companies such as the University of Chicago and University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, will utilize IBM’s advanced quantum computer – known as IBM Quantum System Two – that is set to be deployed in Chicago within the next year.
According to Arvind Krishna, Chairman and CEO of IBM, this partnership with the state of Illinois is a significant step towards shaping the future of computing. He also expressed pride in their progress towards making practical quantum technology accessible worldwide.
Governor JB Pritzker hailed this collaboration between industry leaders and academic institutions as a groundbreaking development that will have far-reaching effects on not just tech but various industries.
