Two new Hyatt-branded hotels are planned on Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community land near Scottsdale, adding hospitality capacity adjacent to a major regional entertainment destination along Loop 101.
A groundbreaking was recently held for the Arizona Boardwalk Hyatt Place at Talking Stick, a four-story, 142-room select-service hotel. The property will rise next to Arizona Boardwalk, the entertainment complex that houses attractions such as OdySea Aquarium, Butterfly Wonderland, Museum of Illusions and the Boardwalk Big Wheel. The proximity to these venues positions the hotel to serve both leisure visitors and group travelers drawn to the area.
The Arizona Boardwalk Hyatt Place at Talking Stick is planned with a mix of guest and common-area amenities. According to the project description, the hotel will include a lobby bar and lounge, a dedicated breakfast and dining area, meeting space for small groups, a fitness center and an outdoor pool. The hotel is designed by Deutsch Architecture Group and is being built by Layton Construction. The development team is targeting a late 2027 opening for the property.
Just south of the Arizona Boardwalk site, an additional Hyatt flag has been proposed in the same tribal community. Plans call for a four-story, 122-room Hyatt Studios hotel, described as an extended stay property. The Hyatt Studios concept is intended to cater to guests seeking longer stays, and the planned hotel would add a different lodging format to the immediate area compared with the Hyatt Place project.
The Hyatt Studios development is being proposed by CaliberCos Inc. Specific design, amenity and construction timelines for this second hotel were not detailed, but the project would bring another nationally branded asset into the corridor if it advances as planned. Together, the two hotels would total 264 rooms across two distinct Hyatt flags within a concentrated geography near Arizona Boardwalk.
Both projects are located on land controlled by the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community near Scottsdale, which has been the focus of ongoing destination-oriented development activity. The combination of a recently commenced Hyatt Place and a proposed Hyatt Studios signals a continued build-out of hospitality offerings around the entertainment district, with multiple stakeholders involved in design, construction and sponsorship for the separate hotel concepts.
