Howard Hughes Holdings is partnering with the Houston Texans to develop a major new sports and entertainment district within Bridgeland, an 11,500-acre master-planned community located in Cypress, Texas.

The project, named the Toro District, will span 83 acres and be situated in Bridgeland Central, the community’s 925-acre urban core. In addition to serving as the new headquarters for the Houston Texans, the Toro District will include an array of mixed-use offerings such as retail shops, restaurants, hotels, entertainment venues, multifamily housing, and medical facilities.

The Texans’ new 22-acre headquarters will feature an office building, indoor stadium, and outdoor fields. Notably, the training facilities are expected to be accessible for youth sports programming and community events, emphasizing local engagement and outreach.

Leading the design of the project is renowned architecture and design firm Gensler.

Harris County Commissioners Court has already approved a memorandum of understanding for the Toro District. According to projections, the development could contribute as much as $34 billion in economic impact and create approximately 17,000 jobs over the next 15 years.

Specific dates for groundbreaking, a project timeline, and design renderings are expected to be released in the coming weeks.
