Urban Design Partners is seeking approval from a local planning agency in Sanford for the construction of a new shopping center and hotel. The proposed development, located on a 12.54-acre property off Kelly Drive, would include a 45,000-square-foot grocery store and four-story hotel among other amenities. Sanford is situated approximately 45 miles southwest of Raleigh.

The site is positioned northeast of downtown Sanford and according to the Triangle Business Journal’s report on the application, it also includes plans for an attached retail building spanning 11,000 square feet next to the grocery store as well as commercial space on a separate lot measuring at 1.38 acres. In total, there will be over 300 parking spaces available between the two main structures.

Sanford has experienced significant growth with its population surpassing over32 ,000 residents . The town is renowned for its industrial sector which produces brick and pottery products making it one of United States’ largest producers in this industry . Notable companies such as Caterpillar ,3M , Central Carolina Hospital,and Pentair have established their presence in Sanford.
