**Memorial Regional Hospital Announces $670 Million Expansion**
Memorial Regional Hospital is launching a $670 million expansion project with the addition of a new Surgical and Patient Bed Tower. This transformative development will significantly enhance the hospital’s capabilities and infrastructure.
The new tower will incorporate state-of-the-art surgical facilities, advanced imaging technologies, and 150 acuity-adaptable beds designed to offer flexible and efficient patient care. The project encompasses over 400,000 square feet of new construction and nearly 50,000 square feet of renovations, to be executed in two phases.
The expansion will introduce the following key features:
– 21 new operating rooms, including a hybrid OR that supports advanced imaging, with additional space reserved for future growth
– An increase in prep and recovery bays from 37 to 58, improving patient flow and readiness
– A newly designed sterile processing department, centrally located to streamline surgical support
– A new main lobby designed to enhance traffic flow and improve arrival and accessibility for patients and visitors
Phase one of the expansion, focused on the construction of the surgical tower, is scheduled for completion in 2029. The second phase, which includes a connecting structure, is projected to finish by 2031.
Throughout the duration of the expansion, Memorial Regional Hospital will remain fully operational. Robins & Morton has been appointed as the project’s general contractor.
