Hoar Construction has successfully completed the structural work for CityHouse Old Town, a seven-story development that will transform an office building into luxury residential apartments. The property is owned by American Real Estate Partners (AREP) and is located at 1101 King Street in historic Old Town Alexandria. Hoar served as the general contractor for this project, which began construction in February 2024 and is expected to be completed in Fall 2025.
CityHouse Old Town will feature approximately 200 homes, ranging from studios to three-bedroom apartments. According to Brian Katz, Co-founder and President of AREP, this project showcases their expertise in converting underutilized office buildings into vibrant residential communities with top-notch amenities.
The building’s design was led by Cooper Carry as the architect and RD Jones + Associates as the interior designer. SKA Consulting Engineers provided engineering services while Bozzuto Management will serve as the property manager.
During construction, Hoar made sure to minimize any negative impact on retail tenants or surrounding neighborhoods during demolition and utility phases. Justin Yarbrough, senior superintendent at Hoar stated that they worked diligently towards this goal.
This milestone marks another successful project for Hoar Construction on behalf of Connect CRE.
