**Healthpeak Expands Alewife Portfolio with Latest Acquisition**

Denver-based Healthpeak Properties Inc. has expanded its holdings in Cambridge, MA’s Alewife neighborhood with the acquisition of the Cambridge Landscape warehouse at 100 Smith Place for $20 million. The company aims to incorporate the site into a larger mixed-use development.

Healthpeak began assembling substantial acreage in Alewife in the late 2010s and early 2020s, intending to redevelop the area. However, in 2022, Cambridge officials imposed a construction moratorium in parts of Alewife, expressing concerns about an oversaturation of laboratory spaces. The city later rezoned the area in 2023 to promote a balanced mix of commercial and residential development.

Since then, Healthpeak’s redevelopment efforts have progressed slowly. Reports indicate that the company acquired only two properties in Cambridge between 2023 and 2024.
