**Habitat Fully Leases Bronzeville Apartment Development**
Chicago-based developer Habitat has successfully completed the lease-up of the second phase of 43 Green, a mixed-income, mixed-use residential community located in the historic Bronzeville neighborhood on Chicago’s Near South Side.
Phase two of 43 Green, situated at 4309 S. Prairie Ave. next to the 43rd Street Green Line CTA station, is a 10-story building featuring 80 apartments. Of these, 44 units are designated as affordable housing. This new structure sits adjacent to the first phase of the development, which also consists of a 10-story building with 99 units — 50 of which are affordable. Phase one welcomed its first residents in June 2023 and reached full occupancy by December of that year.
The apartments in Phase 2 are offered in a variety of layouts, including studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom floor plans, ranging from 465 to 1,092 square feet.
The 43 Green project represents more than $100 million in investment across three phases, marking it as the first equitable transit-oriented development (ETOD) on Chicago’s South Side. This initiative aims to provide accessible, mixed-income housing in direct proximity to public transportation, supporting both affordability and sustainability within the community.
