Groundbreaking of Chicago Fire Training Facility on Near West Side

City officials and Chicago Fire FC owner and chairman Joe Mansueto joined community members at the Jane Addams Family Resource Center to celebrate the groundbreaking of a new performance and training facility in the Roosevelt Square neighborhood on Chicago’s Near West Side. The 53,000-square-foot, two-story center will feature two hybrid grass pitches with hydronic heating systems as well as three synthetic turf pitches, one of which will be covered by an insulated dome from November to March each year.

The facility is being built on land owned by the Chicago Housing Authority (CHA). As part of a long-term lease agreement between CHA and Fire FC, financing for development of this multi-million dollar project has been provided along with an $8 million investment into rehabilitation/preservation efforts for nearby CHA housing units plus creation of indoor/outdoor community spaces.
