Saddle Creek Village, a low-income housing apartment complex in North Houston, is set to begin construction in early November. Developed by Stewardship Development, an Oregon-based company, the project is expected to be completed and ready for occupancy by November 2025.
The complex will consist of 72 apartments with one-, two-, and three-bedroom options for residents earning 60% or less of the average median income. The project will be funded through Harris County’s American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds and has been designated as a 9% tax credit project.
Located at 15960 Kuykendahl Road, Saddle Creek Village will offer various amenities such as an after-school learning center with tutoring services available, a playground area for children to enjoy, dog parks for both large and small dogs to play in safely within the complex’s fully fenced perimeter with secure entry access. Additionally,a business center will also be available on-site.
Stewardship Development was founded in1989 and has since expanded from managing just one property to over700 properties across five states.
Harris County received $915 million from the US Treasury through ARPA funding which must be committed by the end of2024and spent beforethe endof2026.This affordable housing development is just one example of how these funds are being utilized towards improving communities within Harris County.
