On Friday, the Arlington Partnership for Affordable Housing (APAH) broke ground on Riggs Crossing Senior Residences, a new senior affordable housing development in Washington D.C.’s Ward 4. This marks APAH’s first community in the District and is part of their regional expansion plan. The project will add 93 apartments for independent adults aged 62 and older within blocks of local amenities, retail stores and Fort Totten Metrorail Station when completed.
The community will feature 52 units at or below 30% Median Family Income (MFI) as well as 41 units at or below 50% MFI to meet the growing need for affordable housing across the region according to APAH President & CEO Carmen Romero: “Our goal is to create more homes and provide supportive programming that empowers residents.” The project was made possible through a partnership with EYA LLC who developed adjacent Riggs Park Place townhome community nearby.
