Greensboro Hospital Receives $262M Approval from State Agency

After a year and a half of waiting, Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist has received approval from the N.C. Division of Health Service Regulation for their $262.8 million Greensboro Medical Center on Horse Pen Creek Road. Originally scheduled to open in July 2026, the hospital’s opening date has been pushed back to January 2029.

The new facility will have 36 beds and will be located at 2909 Horse Pen Creek Road. According to The Charlotte Business Journal, it will feature state-of-the-art equipment including 20 emergency department bays,12 observation beds, two operating rooms, two procedure rooms,and various radiology and imaging equipment such as CT scanners and MRI scanners.

At full capacity,the Greensboro Medical Center is expected to employ152 full-time-equivalent employees.Additionally,AHWFB plans on constructing a $30 million ambulatory surgery center at the same site on Horse Pen Creek Road.
