**GrayStreet Partners to Develop Hotel and Apartments at Former Pig Stand Site in San Antonio**

GrayStreet Partners has received approval from the San Antonio Zoning Commission to move forward with a new mixed-use development at 1523 North Alamo Street, near the site of the historic Pig Stand restaurant. The rezoning allows the company to pursue multiple uses, including residential, hospitality, and food and beverage components.

The proposed development includes plans for a hotel exceeding 35 feet in height, approximately 100 multifamily units per acre, and various food and beverage amenities. The total project footprint will exceed 167,000 square feet. According to earlier filings, GrayStreet intends to operate a 211-key hotel under Marriott International’s AC Hotel brand.

GrayStreet acquired the property, along with adjacent parcels at 1514 and 1516 Broadway, in February 2023. The celebrated Pig Stand restaurant, a long-standing local institution, closed the following month.

First opened in 1921, the Pig Stand was once a nationwide chain with over 130 locations. The San Antonio site was the last remaining Pig Stand in operation, marking the end of a significant chapter in the city’s culinary and cultural history.
