**Wieland Topping Off Marks Key Milestone in $500M Industrial Revamp in East Alton**
Wieland, a global supplier of copper and copper alloy products, has achieved a significant milestone in its $500 million modernization and expansion project at its facility in East Alton, Illinois.
The project reached a crucial point with the topping off of the EA2030 structure, signaling the completion of the first phase of a transformative, multi-year initiative. This marks a successful collaboration between Wieland, Graycor Construction Company, and Helmkamp Construction—the design-build partners leading the effort since breaking ground in June 2024. Design support has been provided by Vestal Corporation and Salas O’Brien.
The EA2030 topping off celebrates the completion of structural steel for the new hot rolling facility. Once completed, the advanced building will feature a hot mill line, milling line, cold rolling mill, high-bay storage with automated material handling systems, and overhead cranes. This modern facility is set to replace the site’s original 100-year-old hot rolling plant.
Looking ahead, industry professionals have an opportunity to hear from leaders shaping the future of industrial development. Carter Andrus, Chief Operating Officer of Prologis, will deliver the keynote interview at Connect Industrial Midwest, taking place Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Joe’s Live in Rosemont, Illinois.
