Gov. Holcomb and Eli Lilly Announce $5.3 Billion Investment in LEAP District

Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb and Eli Lilly’s Chair and CEO David Ricks have announced plans for a significant expansion at the LEAP Research and Innovation District. This investment of $5.3 billion will double Lilly’s total investment in the district to $9 billion, allowing for increased production of active pharmaceutical ingredients used in their latest treatments for type 2 diabetes and obesity.

In addition to this expansion, Lilly has committed to creating 200 new full-time jobs at LEAP, including positions such as engineers, scientists, operating personnel, and lab technicians. This brings the company’s total planned job creation at LEAP to 900.

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) has pledged an additional investment of up to $500,000 through incentive-based training grants for Lilly. They have also committed up to $20 million in redevelopment tax credits and $15 million towards road infrastructure improvements based on the company’s projected additional investment of $5.2 billion.
