Broad Street Realty has officially launched a 2.4-megawatt rooftop solar project at its Cromwell Shopping Center in Glen Burnie, MD. The shopping center, spanning 233,000 square feet, is now home to the solar project which generates enough electricity to power over 1,000 homes within BG&E’s service territory in Maryland. This impressive feat was made possible by installing a ballasted racking system covered with 4,380 solar panels.
The development of this project was spearheaded by Centennial Generating Company and executed by Halo – a leading solar engineering contractor – while AccelDev provided financing for the development capital. Moving forward, Madison Energy Infrastructure will take ownership and operation of the completed project.
According to Broad Street chairman and CEO Michael Jacoby: “In order for us to achieve our goal of reducing emissions throughout Broad Street’s portfolio as part of our ESG initiatives we must work collaboratively across all aspects of value chains.” He expressed excitement about partnering with Centennial and MEI on this net-zero transition towards decarbonizing the Cromwell Shopping Center.
